No idea what content should be in such a travel pharmacy? Don't worry, our checklist below will help you get started.

Travel pharmacy checklist:

A broad spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 50

First and foremost: sun protection is essential in your travel pharmacy and toiletry bag. Very logical and yet equally important. A real must. Opt for a sunscreen that protects against both UVA and UVB rays and has a high SPF. We prefer a 50+. Even if you suffer from acne, it is best to choose a good sunscreen that is suitable for acne skin.

We take sunscreen for granted in the summer, but you also have sunscreen in winter needed.

A lip balm with SPF

Your lips can also burn painfully. You can prevent this by applying a lip balm that contains sun protection. Always with us in our toilet or handbag and therefore also in your travel pharmacy.

Sunblock for little kids

We like to protect young children extra well. Sunblock literally blocks UV rays by reflecting them away from the skin. The cream is thicker and lays a clear layer. Do you prefer sunscreen? That works just as well, but ensures high protection (SPF 50+).

Aftersun or other hydrating cream

You may have noticed: the sun dries out your skin. Hydrating them properly after a hot, sunny day is therefore recommended. This is specifically possible with an aftersun cream, but any hydrating cream is good for this.

Cortisone ointment or gel

We know that cortisone is quite controversial, but in the right amount, it can be used very well and even has many benefits. From sunburn to bug bites, from heat rash whether sweat pimples to sun allergies, cortisone ointment or gel has a soothing and caring effect.

Talcum powder

Talcum powder has a soothing effect and can provide relief from heat rashes such as sweat pimples or Mallorca acne. In addition, it also keeps the skin dry, ideal for those chafing thighs. This is how you prevent abrasions.

A cold compress

Cooling is always welcome when the skin is under pressure, whether due to the sun, humidity or an insect bite. A cold compress is useful for giving a specific area or inflammation the necessary coolness and rest. Less obvious to keep track of, but if you rent a cottage, you can probably keep it cold.

An aloe vera-based ointment

Sunburn, insect bites, rash, the skin can swell and itch considerably. Aloe vera has soothing properties and helps you quickly reduce irritation. By the way, you can also apply aloe vera gel directly over the irritated area if you have such a plant nearby.

A pair of tweezers

When bugs come up, it's always interesting to have a pair of tweezers with you. You never know whether to remove a sting and some venom from, for example, a wasp. Pro tip: gently scrape the sting with the tweezers instead of grabbing and pulling it out. This prevents extra poison from getting into the wound.

An ointment for insect bites or itch-relieving ointment

If we stay in the spirit of bug bites, we also recommend that an ointment for insect bites be part of your travel pharmacy. It is always nice that you can reduce the itching and accelerate the healing process of the bite.

Do you suffer from: itching after mosquito bites? Then it's definitely a good idea to bring an itch-relieving ointment to your travel pharmacy.

Antihistamine tablets

Antihistamines inhibit the release of histamine in the body and thereby reduce itching and swelling. They are super useful for allergic reactions (such as sun allergy or hives), but also help with annoying mosquito bites. Always follow the instructions on the package or consult a doctor for the correct dosage.

A hydrating lotion for feet: goodbye to cracked heels

A lot of drought and poor footwear, your feet lose weight in the summer. Prevent heel cracks by treating the skin on the soles of your feet with a moisturizing lotion/gel/ointment.

A new razor blade for razor bumps

Did you know that shaving cream is not a must for beautifully smooth legs? A sharp razor blade and good hydration do. This is because blunt blades are more likely to cause razor bumps and ingrown hair, so make sure you replace the blade regularly.

The Skindr app: taking a dermatologist on a trip

Just in case. So you literally always have a Belgian dermatologist at hand. Do you have an emergency on vacation, such as a severe sunburn or an allergic reaction to an insect bite, and would you rather not go to the hospital on location? Via the app, you are immediately in contact with our certified dermatologists and, on average, you will receive advice with the necessary regulations within 48 hours.

Reliable advice from a dermatologist has never been so close.
